SynGltA allows cells to recover from a defect in central carbon and energy metabolism by altering the regulation of an alternative metabolic pathway. Specifically, SynGltA dramatically enhances the expression of prpC, a gene encoding methylcitrate synthase in the propionate degradation pathway.
