7.6.2.1 physiological function cell cycle control protein CDC50A associates with and recruites P4-ATPase ATP8A1 to the plasma membrane. Overexpression of CDC50A induces extensive cell spreading and greatly enhances cell migration. Depletion of either CDC50A or ATP8A1 causes a severe defect in the formation of membrane ruffles, thereby inhibiting cell migration. Depletion of CDC50A inhibits the inward translocation of both phosphatidylserine and phosphatidylethanolamine, whereas the depletion of ATP8A1 inhibits the translocation of phosphatidylethanolamine but not that of phosphatidylserine Cricetulus griseus
