When using 2.2 M pyruvate, in the first 6 h, the concentration of N-acetyl-D-neuraminic acid reaches 29.5 mM (which is about half of the maximal concentration), and the productivity of N-acetyl-D-neuraminic acid is 1.6 g/l/h, the concentration of the intermediate N-acetyl-D-mannosamine also increases gradually from 0 to 64 mM during the process Escherichia coli
