Transgenic plants with a relatively high level of expression of the 35S::AtPCS1 transgene does not result in higher Cd tolerance, but rather show higher sensitivity to Cd under some conditions. Transgenic plants showing a relatively lower level of expression of the 35S::AtPCS1 transgene show increased accumulation and tolerance of Cd compared to wild-type plants Arabidopsis thaliana
