physiological function knock-down of either histone H3 lysine methyltransferase Smyd3 or SetD7 genes leads to severe defects in cardiac morphogenesis without altering the expression pattern of heart markers, including cmlc2, vmhc, and amhc. Double knock-down of both Smyd3 and SetD7 causes synergistic defects in heart development. Overexpression of these genes also causes the heart morphogenesis defect in zebrafish Danio rerio
