physiological function overexpression of isoform NTRC in Arabidopsis thaliana leads to a freezing and cold stress tolerance, whereas a knockout mutant shows a stress-sensitive phenotype. The recombinant NTRC proteins exhibits a cryoprotective activity for malate dehydrogenase and lactic dehydrogenase. Recombinant NTRC efficiently protect RNA and DNA from RNase A and metal catalyzed oxidation damage, respectively.
