Mus musculus sulforaphane or curcumin significantly increase NQO1 protein expression and activity without triggering G2/M cell cycle arrest or mitotic catastrophe. Sulforaphane and curcumin each increase the NQO1 activity within 24 h, at concentrations as low as 0.1 microM. The minimal quercetin concentration inducing NQO1, is 100fold higher than that which disrupts mitosis.
