Protein Variants

Protein Variants Comment Organism
C269S activity of the C269S mutant is not affected by glutathione disulfide and no glutathionylated IDPc is observed with 5 mM glutathione disulfide confirming that Cys269 is a target of IDPc glutathionylation Homo sapiens
C379S glutathionylation of the C379S mutant is similar to that of wild type enzyme Homo sapiens

Posttranslational Modification

Posttranslational Modification Comment Organism
glutathionylation Cys269 of IDPc is a target for S-glutathionylation, this modification is reversed by dithiothreitol as well as enzymatically by cytosolic glutaredoxin in the presence of glutathione. Glutathionylated IDPc is significantly less susceptible than native protein to peptide fragmentation by reactive oxygen species and proteolytic digestion. Glutathionylation may play a protective role in the degradation of protein through the structural alterations of IDPc. Homo sapiens
