Details for pseudouridine synthase activity
Gene ontology ID
GO:0009982
Definition
Catalysis of the reaction: RNA uridine = RNA pseudouridine. Conversion of uridine in an RNA molecule to pseudouridine by rotation of the C1'-N-1 glycosidic bond of uridine in RNA to a C1'-C5
Comment
Note that this term should not be confused with 'pseudouridylate synthase activity ; GO:0004730', which refers to the formation of free pseudouridine from uracil and ribose-5-phosphate.
