Its ectopic overexpression in Arabidopsis thaliana tt4 mutants fully restors the pigmentation phenotype of the seed coats, cotyledons and hypocotyls, while transgenic Petunia hybrida expressing CHS1 shows flower color alteration from white to pink Freesia hybrid cultivar
