Requires Mg2+. Presilphiperfolan-8beta-ol is the precursor of botrydial, a phytotoxic sesquiterpene metabolite secreted by the fungus Botryotinia fuckeliana (Botrytis cinerea), the causal agent of gray mold disease in plants.
