A pyridoxal-phosphate protein. The enzyme is involved in the biosynthesis of dTDP-alpha-D-desosamine, a sugar found in several bacterial macrolide antibiotics including erythromycin, megalomicin A, mycinamicin II, and oleandomycin. The reaction occurs in the reverse direction.
