upon overexpression of acetyl-CoA acetyltransferase (genes AtoAD) in an engineered Escherichia coli strain, carrying polyhydroxyalkanoate synthetic genes bktB, phaB, and phaC and with propionate as a cosubstrate, the 3-hydroxyvalerate faction in Polyhydroxyalkanoate increases up to 7.3fold compared to a strain without genes AtoAD expressed in trans (67.9 mol%).
