oxidation of naphthalene to produce optically pure (+)-cis-(1R,2S)-1,2-naphthalene dihydrodiol. Increase of productivity of the biotransformation by using resting cells. The biocatalyst is recycled for at least four runs in both suspended and immobilized form. Suspended resting cells retain their activity for at least four runs for 6 h recycle, but the stability is not retained for more than two runs for 12 h recycle. The stability of the 12 h recycle is improved by immobilization
